Scorecard detail
Prefect is workflow orchestration with a clean REST API plus the Prefect Python SDK. The product positioning is developer-friendly Airflow alternative; the API surface is more modern and the documentation explicitly emphasises programmatic operation. Prefect 2.x (the modern version) is REST-first.

Flows, deployments, work pools, schedules, blocks (credentials), and concurrency limits are all programmable. The prefect CLI is first-class. Self-host plus Prefect Cloud share the same SDK contract.

No first-party Prefect MCP server. The product is data-pipeline orchestration; MCP integration is community-led. Prefect's AI integrations through Marvin are tangentially related.

REST documented at docs.prefect.io. OpenAPI specifications power SDK code generation. Schema discoverability is solid for the orchestration sub-category.
